The Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program offered at our institute is a three-year course that combines theoretical instruction with practical sessions. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience in various clinical and community settings under the guidance of our experienced faculty members. The examinations for this program are conducted annually by the Rajasthan Nursing Council, Jaipur.

At Mayurakshi College of Nursing, our philosophy is centered around providing systematic teaching, training, and research in modern nursing sciences. We adhere to the standards set by the Indian Nursing Council, ensuring uniformity in our nursing courses. We believe that effective nursing education involves instilling positive attitudes, knowledge, skills, professional expertise, and an understanding of the latest trends in healthcare and the needs of the community and the country as a whole.

Indian Nursing Council recognized that basic nursing education is a formally recognized programme ofstudents providing a broad and sound foundation in the behavioural, life and nursing sciences for the practice ofnursing for a leadership role and for the post basic education in specialties for advanced nursing practice. TheCountry believes that this basic course in nursing should prepare nurses for occupying first levelpositions in nursing in all kinds of health care settings. The Council recognizes that nursing is aprofession which is influenced by advances in science and technology, it believes that skills in all aspects ofcommunication are also essential learning and for the practice of nursing.

The Council also recognizes that the nature of nursing is such that a substantial portion of learning of the studyis acquired in clinical field(s) of practice. It further recognised the interdependence of nursing to alliedprofessions and occupations in prevention of diseases, promotion, maintenance and restoration of health.The Council believes that it has a responsibility in helping the students to develop pride in their professionbesides keeping them abreast with current knowledge and professional trends for a successful career ahead.


Aims:

The aims of the Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery program are as follows:

  1. To prepare nurses with a comprehensive educational program that enables them to function as efficient members of the healthcare team, starting with first-level positions in various healthcare settings.
  2. To help nurses develop the ability to cooperate and coordinate with other members of the healthcare team in disease prevention, health promotion, and rehabilitation of the sick.
  3. To facilitate personal and professional development of nurses, enabling them to contribute significantly to society as productive individuals, responsible citizens, and competent nurses.
  4. To serve as a foundation for further professional education and specialization in nursing.
  5. To equip nurses with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with the latest professional and technological developments in order to provide high-quality nursing care.

Objectives:

Upon completion of the program, the nurses will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in providing healthcare to individuals, both sick and well, using the nursing process.
  2. Apply knowledge from humanities, biological, and behavioral sciences in their nursing practice.
  3. Function effectively as part of the healthcare team and community, employing effective communication and human relations skills.
  4. Participate in the delivery of curative, preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative healthcare services as part of the healthcare team.
  5. Mobilize community resources and engage in community work.
  6. Demonstrate ethical values in their personal and professional lives.
  7. Participate in professional organization activities.
  8. Recognize the importance of continuing education for professional development.
  9. Demonstrate basic skills in patient education and nursing care.

ELIGIBILITY/ ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Mayurakshi College of Nursing follows the admission eligibility criteria set by the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and the Government of Rajasthan. The college adheres to the annual admission cycle specified by the RNC and the Government of Rajasthan.


Nationality and Age:

Candidates must be Indian citizens and fulfil the age requirements. For male candidates, the age should not exceed 28 years, while female candidates should be within 34 years old, as of December 31st of the admission year. Age relaxation will be provided as per the government guidelines.


Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for admission to the GNM course, candidates must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary School Certificate examination from the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan Ajmer or its equivalent as instructed by the board. Preference will be given to candidates from the Biology class (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) subject group. In the event that qualified candidates from the science group are not available in any category, candidates from the same caste and category who have passed other subject classes will be considered for the vacant seats. Candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 40% marks for the general and OBC category, and 35% marks for the SC and ST category in the qualifying examination. Additionally, candidates must meet the medical fitness criteria.

The following documents are required to be submitted at the time of admission to our nursing college:

  2. Online Filled Counseling Application Form

Original documents with two sets of photocopies:

  1. Marksheet of 10th Standard
  2. Board Certificate of 10th Standard
  3. Marksheet of 12th Standard
  4. Board Certificate of 12th Standard
  5. Leaving or Transfer / Migration Certificate
  6. Gap Certificate Affidavit (if applicable)
  7. Medical Fitness Certificate (by Registered Medical Practitioner)
  8. Domicile Certificate
  9. Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  10. Minority Certificate (if applicable)
  11. Photocopy of Aadhar Card
  • Ten recent passport-size colour photographs (without cap and goggles), with the candidate's name written on the backside of the photographs
  • A set of scanned copies of all these original documents should be deposited in JPEG format.

Note: Candidates are advised to keep a set of scanned copies in JPEG format and photocopies of all documents for personal use, as the original documents will be returned only after the completion of the course.



FEES STRUCTURE


The fee structure for B.Sc. Nursing Course is as follows:

  • Admission Form Fee: ₹1,000
  • Tuition Fee: ₹66,000 annually (session 2023-24) or as prescribed by the state government.
  • Enrolment fees: As prescribed by the RNC
  • Examination Fee: As prescribed by the RNS (Paid by students on the online portal)

Please note the following:

  • The tuition fee must be paid every year after the completion of the RNC examinations, regardless of the student's performance in those respective year.
  • If a student wishes to withdraw from the program during the course duration, there will be no refund of the paid fees as per the guidelines set by the Government of Rajasthan and the Rajasthan Nursing Council, Jaipur.
  • The fees mentioned above are subject to change. It is advisable to refer to the latest information and guidelines provided by the college and the concerned authorities.


SCHOLARSHIP FACILITY

The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of Rajasthan provides scholarship facility to the students of SC, ST, especially disabled, widows, destitute and other socially and economically weaker sections of the society. The GNM course at our nursing college follows the regulations set by the Indian Nursing Council and the Rajasthan Nursing Council, Jaipur. The course has a total duration of three years, including an internship period. It is mandatory for students to complete the course within a maximum of six years from the time of entry.
